그리운 마음으로 임보라 목사님의 별세에 부칩니다

차별은 쉽고 사랑은 어려운 세상입니다. 편견에 맞서는 이들의 시간은 모질고 외롭습니다. 변화와 희망의 이면에 아픈 날들이 더 많았다는 것을 압니다. 군대를 바꿔온 시간도 마찬가지였습니다. 故변희수 하사가, 성소수자 색출 사건의 피해자들이 그러했습니다.
신의 이름을 빙자해 변희수와 성소수자 군인들에게 칼날 같은 말이 쏟아질 때, 혐오는 신의 언어가 아니라는 당당한 위로로 꿈을 이어갈 수 있었던 수많은 이들이 있었습니다. 이들에게 비수로 꽂히던 시간을 나누어 아파해주셨던 분, 기꺼이 위로의 기도로 안아주셨던 분. 임보라 목사님의 별세가 아프고 황망합니다.
여전히 많은 소수자들이 군대를 두려워합니다. 시간은 인권의 편이고, 군대도 조금씩 변해간다지만 한편으로 더딘 변화를 감당해야 할 수많은 두려움을 돌보는 일도 놓쳐서는 안 된다는 가르침을 목사님께 배웠습니다. 그 가르침을 이어가기 위해 늘 고민하고, 또 노력하겠습니다.
임보라 목사님께서 세상에 건네신 따뜻한 사랑을 오래 기억하겠습니다. 그리운 마음으로 안식을 빕니다.

In Memory of Pastor Lim Bora with Our Deepest Love
- Statement in Memory of the late Pastor Lim Bora -
We live in a world where discrimination comes easy and love feels distant. Those who stand against prejudice walk a long and lonely path. We know that behind the changes and hope lie far more days of pain. The same was true for those who fought to change the military.
This was the reality for the late Staff Sergeant Byun Hui-su and the victims of the military's crackdown on sexual minorities. When sharp words were hurled at Byun Hee-soo and LGBTQ service members in the name of God, there were countless people who found strength to continue their dreams through Pastor Lim's unwavering message: hatred is not the language of God. Pastor Lim Bora shared in the pain that pierced these souls like daggers, and embraced them with prayers of comfort. The news of Pastor Lim Bora's passing leaves us heartbroken and at a loss.
Many sexual minorities still fear military service. Though time favors human rights and the military gradually changes, Pastor Lim taught us that we must not overlook those who bear the weight of slow progress and the fears that come with it. We will continue to reflect on this teaching and work hard to carry it forward.
We will long remember the warmth and love Pastor Lim Bora offered to this world. With aching hearts, we pray for your rest.
